The update is also trying to download the Update KB and fails that one also. I looked back in the update history for this particular remote machine and it appears that this has been going on since October I have tried to download the update from the Windows Catalog, but that update hangs up when trying to copy the package to the cache.

I have tried to reset windows update, without success. One at least one machine, I was able to get the update to install, but it removed my default USB printer. Only uninstalling and reinstalling would allow the printer to be available. For now, I am hiding the update on all remaining 26 remote machines, hoping the Microsoft determines the cause and fixes it in the June update.

But, this is inconvenient because, due to the environment in which they operate, I have to have a person onsite initiate a remote support session. So, I contacted Microsoft Support for help. I wish my customers would accept that program. I could intentionally or unintentionally break code, then charge to fix it. On at least one of my client machines, the process broke a service so that the system started getting the BSOD.

For the machine that starting getting BSOD, I had to re-image the drive from a backup image, then manually force the update to install before connecting to the internet. Now to get to the other systems that are spread out over 8 states.
